It’s good, I’ll say that.

What voyage?

Nice. I’ve only had the 15, which I spent a portion of my bonus on the bottle. Are you getting the salty notes from the bourbon?

It was smooth. Almost too smooth. I had a 2nd drink which was the Jeffersons small batch.
I really liked the Ocean a lot but don’t see the value - and was hoping to get the salty notes but didn’t.

That was my take, too. It wasn’t different enough to warrant the cost difference.

Always seemed a bit higher priced because of the gimmick to me. Worth it?

Yeah, the Ocean is great, but too expensive. The Reserve is probably the best bourbon for the money, ($35 a bottle in Kentucky). If you can find the Twin Oak, buy it. Hands down the best I’ve ever had.

It’s really good, very smooth. I’d buy it at $40 a bottle but not what it goes for.

I’ll keep an eye out. Lucky me, I’m in the Chicago burbs and have 2 places near me that take pride in their whiskey list, so I can try things there before I invest in a bottle. The small batch was quite good at 40% of the price of the ocean.

The bartender even told me that when I asked him. He said it’s really good, and has a great story, but overhyped. I agree.

To be fair, I made a tactical error. I like whiskey cold as a rule so I got it on a whiskey rock, which was a hunk of ice.
Probably deserves to be neat - not so coincidentally, Neat is the name of the place I was at.

I was interested in this when it was released (
but didn’t buy)
. Then
more
so after Arch Duke’s short review (almost bought)
. Now, not so much (will look for a drink in a bar)
. It’s $
140 here! Plus tax!

$140 is crazy. I want to say it’s half that here, but I’ve forgotten. The pour I had at a bar was $17.
Based on my and Archdukes experience, I’d look for voyage 15, not 17, if you can.
It *is* very good. I just don’t see it as worth the price.

I’m an ocean engineer so the gimmick almost sold me tons of times, but yeah it’s $70. I hover at $50 Max

Taxes vary wildly by location, and Goggles might have some liquor store trying to profit on the hype, too.
I’d buy it at $40-50, not feeling it at $70, but I generally don’t go much above $40 either. But if I ever see Blanton’s at my local Binnys I will buy as much as they let me, damn the price (they tell me they get a few bottles here and there)

I agree to your last point. So much that's it's good I can't find Blanton's lol

Lol yeah I freaking love Blanton's.
